Homemade White Bread

Soft and fluffy homemade white bread loaf with a golden crust, freshly baked from scratch and perfect for sandwiches, toast, and French toast.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups warm water about 105-115℉
  • 1 1/2 tbsp active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar plus a pinch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 5 cups all-purpose flour

Method
 

  1. Combine warm water, a pinch of sugar and yeast in a mixing bowl.
  2. Let stand for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  3. Add sugar, oil and salt. Mix.
  4. Gradually mix in the flour until a soft dough forms.
  5. Knead for 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  6. Place into a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for about 1 hour and 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.
  7. Separate the dough into two halves and shape. Place into two greased 9x5 loaf pans.
  8. Cover and let rise for another 45 minutes.
  9. Bake at 350℉ for 30-32 minutes, until lightly golden and cooked through.
  10. Cool on a wire rack before slicing.
